Senior Russian officer killed by car bomb

MOSCOW (AP) – A senior Russian military officer was killed by a car bomb on Friday, Russia’s top criminal investigation agency said.

The commission of inquiry said Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the main operational department of the Russian Armed Forces general, was killed by a car in Balashikha outside Moscow.

The committee did not mention the possible suspects.

The attack was amid the killing of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who died on December 17, when a bomb hiding in an electric scooter parked outside the apartment building exploded as he left the office. Russian authorities accused Ukraine of killing Kirillov.
