Sepp Straka Outduels Shane Lowry wins Truist title

Fourtown, Pennsylvania -Sepp Straka knew the key to Truist’s championship early on in the accuracy of Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Now, Austria and the oldest country clubs in the United States are always linked.
Straka took the lead with a 16th hole and beat Shane Lowry with two 68 shots in Sunday’s second win.
“This is the biggest win of my career,” Straka said of his fourth PGA Tour title.
Straka hit about 30 feet after Lowry missed the green in a 212-yard (212-yard) 16-straight T-shirt. Lowry stood out from the heavy roughness but failed to convert to a 6-foot par putt, trailing.
Lowry missed a potential 22-foot birdie title in 4 on the 17th, finishing with a three-boge after having trouble with a 514-yard Stout 514 yard (Par-4 closed hole).
The end of a final nine matchup. Straka scored a pressure-free, two-shot title at the age of 18 and joined Rory McIlroy (three wins) as a multi-winner of the season. Austrians who played college golf in Georgia also won American Express in January.
“It’s not the best week I’ve ever had,” Straka said. “I played a bad game in the first two days.”
He said, it was different. In the final round, he made putters over 110 feet.
“The putts were great this week. …A lot of mid-range putts were done, what you had to do when you want to win a golf tournament.”
Straka moved to second place in the FedEx rankings, earning $3.6 million in the sixth signing match of the season on the PGA Tour and bringing back the winner’s cricket bat trophy, a tribute to a group of students and cricketers in Penn, Penn, in 1854.
He is ready to make the world’s top 10 and is almost certain to be his second European Ryder Cup team.
Straka believes his consistency and work ethics have risen in the rankings.
Truist was another turnover for Lowry, whose last PGA Tour victory was the 2019 British Open. He won the BMW PGA Championship on the European Tour in 2022.
Lowry’s even 70 kept him ahead with Justin Thomas (67), who performed late among leaders.
Lowry advocates players to cool down for players, then ask questions from the media after a round, refusing to comment.
Patrick Cantlay, Jacob Bridgeman and Tommy Fleetwood shot 65 respectively and ranked fourth with 12 points.
McIlroy is the defending champion and four-time event champion of Quail Hollow, who usually ends with two shots under the age of 68 and ends with two shots. Since completing his career Grand Slam in the Masters, McIlroy has played 68 and finished seventh with 10 points.
McIlroy now heads to Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina for next week’s PGA Championship, the second biggest major of the year.
“I think I’m in a good place,” he said. “I feel like I’m not doing well this week and I’m still over the seventh time. There’s little improvement and fine-tuning, especially going to a place like Quail Hollow, I feel like I’m in a really good place.”
Prime scoring conditions have returned to the Wissahickon course for Philadelphia Cricket for the first time since the first round. After a rainy day and a cold second and a bold third, Thomas tried to win games in a row after taking the legacy of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RBC) last month, he was the only true suitor in the sixth signing event of the PGA Tour season.
Ultimately, it depends on the third round leader.
Straka built a two-stroke lead after the first nine holes. Lowry first broke the tie with a 12-foot birdie putt to reach 15.
Both took advantage on the fifth shot. Lowry brought the Birdie to 16, and Straka defeated his match partner with a 20-foot hawk putt to forge another tie.
After Lowry settled in eighth, Straka drained the 15-foot birdie putt, one step at a time, and then reached under 17 at 28 feet in 9th.
Straka’s lead disappeared after two holes on the nine-hole after a continuous bogey.
After 95 14 yards, it was the shortest 3-shot tournament 3 (excluding the Grand Slam), which dates back to 1983, when Lowry nearly cut for the Eagle on 5 15 15 and settled in Birdie. Straka matches the 6-foot bird and moves forward to the next hole.
Thomas almost caught the leader twice. He missed the potential, tied a birdie putt at 14 feet and 15 feet 3 feet.
“It’s a great day,” Thomas said. “Obviously, I gave myself a chance. Starting three, putting 15 putts ahead, I’m sure to take that at the beginning of the day.
“I worked hard, played well, and gave myself a chance, and that’s what I wanted.”
Sahith Theegala retreated before the final round, citing a neck injury.
Professionals taught Wissahickon courses while back in Philadelphia where golf occupied golf. The century-old course boasted a large crowd throughout the week, resulting in the event’s fan shop being sold from merchandise on Saturday and being closed in the final round.
“You always hear Philadelphia sports fans, and that’s true,” Straka said. “Last year, I took root in the Hawks because my Bulldogs have a lot of defense there.
