Shocked by the “credible report” of the killing of Sudanese civilians

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said he was shocked by the “credible report” of the killing of civilians by the Sudanese army.

Volker Türk called for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations in a statement.

He expressed concern over the reliable incidents of numerous civilian executions in several areas of Khartoum, which clearly suspected that they were working with the Rapid Support Force. ”

The video has been circulating on social media for several days, allegedly killing civilians in and around Khartoum.

The BBC cannot independently verify the videotapes, but the UN Human Rights Office said it believes the videos are reliable evidence of abuse.

We are currently awaiting the response of the Sudanese armed forces to the allegations.

Mr. Turke said his office reviewed “multiple horror videos of armed men”, often in public with cold blood as an enforcement civilian.”

In some videos, he said, the perpetrators pointed out that they were punishing supporters of RSF. The Army has been fighting the RSF for the past two years, a civil war that has caused the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

“I urge the commanders of the Sudanese armed forces to take immediate measures to end the arbitrary deprivation of life,” Turke said.

“Individual perpetrators and those with command responsibility must be held accountable for such unacceptable actions under international criminal law.”

Sudan’s army and its allied militias are charged with human rights violations in areas recaptured from certain areas of the RSF, Senar, Gezra state and North Kodovan.

In January, Chief General of the Army Abdel Fattah al-Burhan

The United States imposed sanctions on Gen Burhan following the charges by Wad Madani.

RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo was also approved for alleged war crimes in the brutal conflict.

His troops were charged with arrest, torture and execution of so-called Army sympathizers and ethnic killings in the western Darfur region.

The Army had previously condemned the “personal” violations committed by certain soldiers when they were accused of human rights violations.

The BBC reported this week on the scale of the destruction in Khartoum.

The city was lasted by the RSF for nearly two years before being recaptured after last month’s military offensive.

The RSF vowed to continue fighting, threatening the new front in the north of the country.
