Sony’s new Xperia 1 vii borrows Walkman’s Hi-Fi Sound Tech
Sony’s smartphones may not have made a lot of money for a long time, but they do provide a showcase for the company’s latest cameras and AV Tech. A good example is the new Xperia 1 VII flagship store, which borrows Sony’s Alpha camera and Bravia TV tips and is now also the first to adopt Walkman Audio Technology.
On the camera, Sony has introduced a new 48-megapixel speeding camera (16mm full-frame equivalent) with a well-sized 1/1.56-inch sensor that significantly improves the specifications of the Xperia 1 VI Ultrawide. This is the top of the main 48MP 1/1.35-inch 24mm camera and 12MP 85-170mm telephoto zoom.
Another new camera feature is the AI-powered automatic framework. It allows you to capture the entire scene at wide angles while automatically creating close-ups of subjects (vertical or horizontal) within the frame. Matching with the technology already available in Sony’s Alpha Camera series. Other key camera features include improved bokeh mode, real-time tracking and real-time eye focus, “telemacro”, “telemacro” through a 120mm equivalent lens (focus vs. 4cm focus), Pro Controls, dedicated shutter buttons, live streaming and “align with the full-scale camera”.
As for audio, Sony has greatly upgraded the Xperia 1 VII from the previous model. Now, it uses high-end walker components in key areas such as sound resistors. Unlike other smartphone manufacturers, Sony retains the headphone jack and improves wired sound with advanced integrated circuits, while also improving LDAC wireless audio quality. In addition, Xperia 1 VII supports Sony’s DSEE Ultimate AI sound upgrade technology, as well as 360 real-life audio or Dolby Atmos formats.
The Xperia 1 VII also gets a tip from the Sony’s Bravia showcase, featuring a new adaptive brightness feature with a 6.5-inch OLED display. Now it has light sensors front and rear to better measure ambient light levels and adjust brightness, contrast and color accordingly.
Other key features include the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage (scalable to 2TB, expanded with microSD), WiFi 7, FPS gaming optimizer, battery life with a new 5,000mAh battery, a new 5,000mAh battery, a steam chamber cooler and a Gorilla Glass victus 2 for environmental protection. Sony can even invest in its top WH-1000XM5 headphones for free, worth about $300.
Unfortunately, there is no sign that the Xperia 1 VII is coming to the United States soon. It is now available for ordering in Europe and the UK, for €1,499 and £1,399 respectively, for around $1,700.
