South Park finale delivered the goods but barely used them

Author: Robert Skuch updated

you! I’m not so confident in myself that I thought Trey Parker and Matt Stone were reading my comments, but I’d like to point out that a few weeks ago I suggested that the Woodland Critters were back for Christmas, and south park The final episode of Season 28, “The Crap Out,” brought results. This may be a case of parallel thinking, since the birth of the Antichrist is synonymous with the woodland critters, but a small part of me wishes I had some kind of influence on my favorite creator. If so, I can finally paraphrase Al Gore: “Everyone is obsessed with me.”

We only saw the woodland critters twice. The Season 8 finale introduced them through Cartman’s class project, while Season 11’s Fantasyland trilogy turned them into real creatures. We haven’t seen them since, so considering how well they fit into the Satan and Trump arcs, their return was either carefully planned or south park The creators did read my November 21st post and were very enthusiastic about making my holiday wishes come true.

Anyway, I’m glad the woodland critters are finally back south parkeven though I was hoping for at least one bloody orgy. But I already got what I wanted, so let’s not get greedy.

Season 28 wraps up stupid Trump story, hopefully for good

My biggest criticism of seasons 27 and 28 is how politically charged everything has become. I’m not alone, Parker and Stone were self-referential throughout the run. Stan Marsh elaborates on this in The Woman in the Hat, saying south park Getting too political and even outright claiming that the show is terrible now. It’s not because they criticize Donald Trump. It feels like a “let’s talk about the news this week” approach has infected every corner of modern media.

people tune in south park watch south park. This show has always been a hit, but the “Orange Man” stuff is getting dated pretty quickly because it’s literally all over the place, and it feels lazy at this point because they’re preaching to the choir. Going into Season 27, most fans didn’t think Parker and Stone would go down this route because they made it clear they didn’t want to. The Season 27 premiere was even delayed to avoid coinciding with the 2024 election so they could stop blaming Trump. They said repeatedly that it was impossible to caricature someone who was already behaving like a real person in an Onion article, and then they did just that.

Loose ends tied up but also rushed

There are so many unanswered questions in this ending that a hasty conclusion is inevitable. McGee joined ICE and was fired. Jesus takes his place while being molded into the worst kind of Christian by PC (Power Christian) Principal. Trump and Satan are having butt babies. J.D. Vance attempted to interfere with the pregnancy with the help of Peter Thiel and Pete Hegseth. The hat lady disappeared without resolution. There’s simply no viable way to connect every narrative thread, many of which I haven’t even listed here.

My favorite moments were when Stan prayed to the nursing home toilet and asked Mr. Hankey for a Christmas miracle, even though I predicted it a mile away, only to be dazzled by the woodland critter. They still have the same determination to bring back the Antichrist, but this time their evil never reaches its fullest. They’re very excited to be a part of Stanny’s adventures, but their role is mostly chaotic background noise. Stan’s frustrated facial expression as they trotted after him was reason enough to watch “Bullshit.” It’s a perfect dynamic; they’re excited to help destroy the world, and Stan is exhausted and it’s all over.

The real highlight of the last episode was the “Deus Ex Machina” ending, where Jesus actually had a moment where Jesus came to Jesus and answered Stan’s prayer. It really feels like the series is resetting itself after Satan’s ass baby Epstein shows up and Stan gets his old house back. Stan returns to South Park. Integrity Farm has disappeared. Most importantly, the Trump-Satan arc appears to be over for good.

It’s wishful thinking and suggested Christmas miracles south park Next season will likely become more self-sufficient again. We’ll have to wait and see. But if I’m right about woodland critters, then let’s hope I’m right about this too.

Keep improving!
