Spain and Portugal were hit by power outages covering a wide range of areas in both countries. The Madrid Building and Lisbon were included in the interruption as the grid operators worked to address the issue.
Spanish grid operator Red Electric said it is working with energy companies to restore power in affected areas.
Spanish media reported along with large Spanish cities such as Sevilla, Barcelona and Valencia that parts of France may also be affected. The report also shows that telephone lines have declined in parts of the country.

Spanish radio network Cadena SER reported that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is heading to Red Electric Headquarters to assess the situation.
Grid operators confirmed on social media that the process of regaining power will now be “gradual” as engineers work on grids in the north and south of the country.
Local media in Madrid said part of the underground subway has been evacuated and the roads have been cleared as traffic lights in the city stopped working.
Spanish grid monitoring company E-Redes said in a statement that it is working to reconnect at the stage.
It added: “This is a broader European issue.”
The ongoing Madrid Open Tennis Championships also temporarily suspended.
