‘Stranger Things’ producer reveals if beloved character is still alive

Author: Chris Snelgrove Published
this stranger things The series finale ends (Note Major spoilers If you haven’t seen it yet! ), there is one main question: is Eleven alive or dead?
On one hand, we see her seemingly dead and blown away with the Upside Down; on the other, Mike comes up with a pretty convincing theory to his friends as to how she might still be alive. Whether she lives or dies is an open question for fans, but surprisingly, stranger things Showrunner Duffer BrothThey strongly hinted that Eleven is still alive in a recent interview.
After “Stranger Things” ends, eleven people survive

In a recent interview with Variety , the Duffers spoke about a wide range of topics, including specific media (via ET arrive Baldur’s Gate 3) which inspired the series finale. At one point, the interviewer brought up Mike’s theory about Eleven surviving her apparent death, and Matt Duffer echoed the young character’s biggest point: namely, that the military’s technological “kryptonite” would have prevented her from getting “all the way to the gate.” Additionally, he asked the big question that many fans have been confused about: “How could she possibly use her powers to lead him into the void?”
After this, stranger things The co-creator tried to demur, noting that fans will have to decide for themselves whether Mike’s theory is correct. After all, viewers don’t know if Carly “really did it” or if she “might still be alive.” He concluded by saying that he and his brother were “like it depends on the audience.” Clearly, the Duffers wanted to have their cake and eat it too and let the audience decide whether Eleven survived; however, Matt Duffer’s thoughts in this interview more or less confirm that she must have survived.
The power of kryptonite

as stranger things The Master points out that Eleven is supposedly under the influence of the military’s sonic blaster, which has the ability to completely strip Eleven of her powers. Because of this, her geeky friends call this technology “Kryptonite.” During his high school graduation, Mike watched some speakers and later realized that all of the military’s sonic blasters were firing after he and his friends escaped the Upside Down. Previously, the technology kept Eleven in a fetal position, so if she had actually been with her friends, she wouldn’t have been able to stand up, let alone run quickly to the gate without any soldiers seeing her.
Even if she can physically stand up and escape, the kryptonite prevents her from making mental contact with Mike, allowing them to share a sad goodbye before she seemingly sacrifices herself. I say “seemingly” because stranger things The co-creators were right: almost there is nothing Eleven’s final moments would make sense if she was shot by the Army’s sonic blaster. Fans may question whether Carly is dead or capable of creating such intense psychological hallucinations, but the fact remains that there’s no way Eleven could have been with the team, escaped from soldiers, and communicated with Mike while her powers were disabled, meaning her final moments must have been spiritual illusion.
It’s official: your favorite character is still alive

To me, this is enough confirmation that Eleven did indeed survive the final episode stranger things. For a while, I’m sure the Duffers will continue to say it’s up to the fans to decide, but they’ve basically painted themselves into a corner with this character’s final act. If Eleven couldn’t stand up, she couldn’t escape, and if she couldn’t use her powers, she couldn’t talk to Mike. Now, even Matt Duffer has pointed out how unlikely this sequence of events is, which is in line with the closest we can get to official confirmation that Eleven survived.
Ultimately, the Duffers may reveal Eleven’s fate explicitly in a future spinoff or (with any luck) another Broadway drama that most people will never see. For now, though, the character’s biggest fans can rest assured; stranger things The creators unexpectedly confirmed that the fan-favorite character isn’t actually dead and that what we see of her must be some kind of psychological projection of Stripes. If that’s not worth celebrating with a few Eggo waffles, I don’t know what is!
