“How can we forget the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis?” Baerbock asked, highlighting the dilemma of “the 30 million survivals that cannot survive without humanitarian assistance” and “terrible reports of women and children being raped.”
The outgoing minister added: “This war must end.
Baerbock said Germany provided 125 million euros ($142 million) in aid to Sudan and its neighbors.
But if the conflict stops, the amount will never be enough. “This war must end.”
About 20 countries participated in the London Sudan Conference along with representatives from the African Union and the European Union.
Since April 2023, a civil war between the Rapid Support Force (RSF) paramilitary organizations and the Sudanese armed forces has been ongoing.
UN figures show that more than 12 million people were displaced in the conflict, while 24.6 million people face acute hunger in the country.
Human rights groups accused both sides of committing war crimes such as sexual violence, assault on civilians and ethnic cleansing.
