Tayler Scott elects free agents

Right-handed Tayler ScottA week ago task assigned by Astros, he has cleared the immunity but rejected a thorough task and elected free agent. He has the rights to players from previous careers. Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle is one of them to convey the news.

Scott on June 33 is the best season of his career in 2024. Prior to that, he was a touring player, spending years bounced to various member clubs, Indy teams, and even spent a season in Japan. He signed a minor league contract with the 2024 Astros and received an opening day roster. He then announced 2.23 runs in this year’s 68 2/3 innings. His 12.4% walk rate is not high, but he manages to eliminate 25.2% of his opponents.

There might be some luck there. His average hit average score was 0.230 with 84.9% of the stock rate on the lucky side. Still, his 4.13 FIP and 4.04 Siera suggest that he might be a serviceable major league arm even if the baseball gods stop treating him so well.

He can’t push it to 2025. The Astronauts left him with him, but he released a 5.40 ERA in 16 2/3 innings. His wealth has turned over because of his .313 Babip and 65.2% stock rate this year on the unfortunate side. He hasn’t done anything to himself with a strikeout rate of 20.5% and a walking rate of 15.4%.

Understandably, this performance lifted him out of the Astronauts lineup. He had no choice, so they had no choice but to designate him for the mission. The fact that he cleared the waiver shows that no other club wants to give him a roster too.

Based on his solid performance last year, he should be able to get a minor league deal somewhere. That might be a party with the Astronaut, but he will also have the opportunity to explore with 29 other clubs.
