The entire southern border wall will be painted black to stop people from climbing it

WASHINGTON (AP) — The entire border wall along the southern border with Mexico will be painted black to make it hotter and identify illegal immigrants — an idea she believes President Trump believes.
Noem spoke as she visited part of the New Mexico wall, where she also picked up a roller brush to help the painting.
She touts the height and depth of the walls to stop people seeking to cross them. Then Nom said the DHS will try black paint to make the metal hotter.
“It’s especially at the request of the President, who knows that when painted black, it will get warmer in the hot temperatures here, which will make it harder to climb. So we’ll paint the walls of the entire southern border to make sure we encourage individuals to enter our country illegally,” Noem said.
Mike Banks, head of the U.S. Border Patrol, attended the event with Noem, and said paint would also help stop Rust.
In Trump’s first semester, building walls was the core focus of his hardline immigration policy. His arrest at the country in the second semester was a major focus, but as part of new funding passed by Congress this summer, homeland security will receive about $46 billion to complete the wall.
Norm said they were building about half a mile of barriers every day.
“Border walls will look very different depending on the terrain and the geography of the construction location,” she said.
She said the department is working on “water infrastructure” in addition to barriers like the one she visited Tuesday. The long area of the border between the United States and Mexico sits along the Rio Grande River in Texas.
The Trump administration has pushed the wall forward while the number of people illegally crossing the border has declined.
