Iran News Agency, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Javad Zarif also announced his resignation after he was rejected.

Zarif submitted his resignation to President Masoud Pezeshkian, marking another setback for the middle-conservative leader, just seven months later.

Zarif’s decision was to withdraw the confidence of Economy Minister Abdolnaser Hemmati, who heads the central bank for the central bank after Congress dominated by conservative hardwood rule.

Of the 273 members of Congress, a total of 182 voted to remove themselves on Sunday.

Tensions among expellers have intensified amid Iran’s long-term economic crisis and high inflation rates. Rial opposes foreign currency, deteriorating living conditions. Many Iranians are rising food prices, now considered luxury meat and fish.

Zarif resigned in August 2025 just 11 days ago, citing Pezeshkian’s differences in his conservative cabinet. But he later played his role–now resigned only in the latest political turmoil.
