Luka Doncic is less than two weeks away from being eligible for a large-scale contract, and the Lakers are clearing their position.
While formal negotiations didn’t begin until August 2, the franchise has laid the foundation for its hopes to form a long-term partnership with the 26-year-old superstar.
Lakers executives told Spotac’s Keith Smith during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas that we won’t even allow it until next month (August 2). “But Luka and his representatives know what we think of him. They know that since we traded for him, it will be a long and long partnership between Luka and us.”
Doncic came to Los Angeles in February with a blockbuster deal with the Mavericks, an industry that brought Anthony Davis to Dallas. Since then, he has not only embraced the face of the franchise, but also played an active role in shaping the future of the team.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin believes Lakers fans have no reason to think Luka won’t expand.
“Luka has ownership this offseason to cut his desire to be a member of the Lakers, and he wants others to join him,” McManin said. “So he called Deandre Ayton to be the guy who went to the draft with him. Now he is the center of the Lakers. Call Marcus Smart. Points to be filled to attack the defense attorney. Dorian Finney Smith occupied the Dorian Finney Smith last year. He now plays Marcus smart for Houston Rockets. Luka Doncic is worth four years and hit $222 million, reaching that number.”
