The lawyer said on the last day of the appeal that Prince Harry’s “life is in danger.”

Prince Harry’s lawyers warned that he said he had returned to London’s Royal Court on Wednesday to appeal his protection in Britain.

King Charles’ youngest son Harry tried to overturn the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which in 2020 decided that he would not automatically obtain personal police protection when in the UK.

His lawyer, Shaheed Fatima, said as Harry looked at it, “People cannot forget the dimension of humanity: there is a person sitting behind me, whose safety, their safety and their lives are at risk.”

Al Qaeda recently called for the murder of Harry, and he and his wife Meghan participated in “a dangerous car hunt with New York City paparazzi” in 2023, she said in court documents released Tuesday.

Prince Harry’s titles include Duke of Sussex, who withdrew from royal duties in 2020. He now lives in California with his wife Meghan, the Duches of Sussex and their two children.

His challenge was dismissed last year, and the High Court ruled that the ruling was legal, but he was allowed to appeal.

Harry, 40, regularly interacted with his legal team on the last day of the two-day hearing, sometimes shaking his head as government lawyers argued that taking a “customized” approach was the right decision.

“The basis of adopting a decision-making and customization approach is that it has a positive advantage from a security assessment perspective,” said James Eadie, representing the Department of the Interior.

After Wednesday’s hearing on specific security arrangements, Fatima said the case was very important to Harry.

“His presence here and throughout the appeal is a powerful example of how much it means to him and his family,” she said.

Although Harry was told that he was getting “a special customization process… he knew and went through a process that was obviously inferior in every way.”
