“This is the displacement of the fire,” said local journalist Mustafa Gaber, who said in a video call that hundreds of people fled the tanks and the drone fire echoed nearby. “There are people who were injured among us. The situation is very difficult,” he said.

The Israel Defense Forces said the operation in Tel al-Sultan was aimed at “terrorist infrastructure” and attempted to “eliminate terrorists in the region to enhance the security zone in southern Gaza and expand the security zone”.
“The Israel Defense Force will continue to take action against terrorist groups in Gaza to protect Israeli civilians,” it said in a statement.
Hamas said Salah Bardawil, a member of its Politburo and Palestinian Parliament, was killed during a strike in Muwasi, which also killed his wife.
Hospitals in southern Gaza said they received 24 more bodies overnight, including several women and children.
Later on Sunday, the Gaza Health Ministry said Israeli air strikes attacked a hospital in Khan Yunis, killing at least one person.
The ministry said the strike caused a fire in the surgical building of the southern city of Khan Yunis Hospital. The hospital said several were injured.
Israeli troops confirmed the hospital’s strike, saying it attacked Hamas militants operating there. Israel blames Hamas for civilian deaths because it operates in densely populated areas.
Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, an American doctor in the hospital, told CBS News over the phone that the front of the building exploded. He said the hospital was in a state of stagnation and he was concerned about the possibility of another attack.
Sources told CBS News that political Hamas member and spokesman Ismail Barhoum was the target of the hospital strike.
Hamas-led Gaza Health Ministry said a total of 50,021 Palestinians were killed and more than 113,000 were injured during the war. The ministry said the latest announcement announced Sunday includes 673 people since the surprise bombing in Israel on Tuesday and 233 bodies recently identified.
The ministry did not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its records, but said women and children accounted for more than half of the dead. Israel said it has killed about 20,000 fighters without providing evidence.
Late Saturday, the Israeli cabinet approved a proposal to create a new bureau that will promote the “voluntary departure” of Palestinians, based on a proposal proposed by President Trump. Reduce Gaza and rebuild it for others.
Palestinians say they don’t want to leave their homes, and rights groups say the plan could be deported in violation of international law.

The ceasefire held in January paused a fierce battle of 15 months, with Hamas igniting a terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people. Hamas-led militants took 251 hostages.
Most of the prisoners were released in a ceasefire agreement or other deals, while Israeli forces rescued eight people alive and recovered dozens of bodies.
Negotiations were supposed to begin in early February when the next phase of a truce, with Hamas releasing the remaining 59 hostages (thirty-five people believed to have died) in exchange for more Palestinian prisoners, a lasting ceasefire and Israeli evacuation.
The talks never began, and Israel withdrew from the ceasefire before Hamas rejected proposals supported by Israel and the U.S. to release more hostages.
