The report said Apple is making chips for smart glasses.

Apple is working on a bunch of professional chips that show how serious the company is to AI. This also shows that Apple has not given up on its smart glasses.

According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple is developing chips for wearable devices, including its first smart glasses. We’re not talking about the company’s Vision Pro mixed reality headsets, but Ray-Ban’s Meta smart glasses, which are worn like regular glasses, but come with speakers, cameras and some basic AI features.

This special chip is based on the processor used in the Apple Watch and is only customized to make it more efficient. It can also control the “multiple cameras” Apple plans to build in its smart glasses.

The chip should be ready for mass production sometime in late 2026 or 2027, around the time Apple can launch smart glasses.

Mixable light speed

Apple is reportedly working on two different versions of smart glasses, one simpler, lighter and similar to the elements of the Thunderbolt, and the other with AR capabilities.

Apple is also developing several new chips for Mac, including those that may be launched under the names of M6 and M7. There is also a “more advanced” Mac chip in development, but for that Mac chip, we know nothing about it except the code name: Sotra.

Finally, Apple is developing dedicated chips for AI servers, which will be launched in 2027. These servers will be servers that remotely process customers’ Apple intelligence requests – currently, according to reports, Apple uses its high-end Macs chips for this purpose, such as the M2 Ultra.

Ultimately, this means that AI requests will be completed faster and will open the way for more powerful AI capabilities on the road.
