The slack notifications don’t buzz like usual? Latest interruptions

If you have trouble using Slack now, you are not alone. Everyone’s favorite workplace app ran into some connectivity issues this Wednesday, according to a status report from the company.

There are reports that some people started to show Slack on Downdetector around 7 p.m. and have been competing since then (DownDetector is owned by the same parent company as CNET and owned by CNET Ziff Davis). On Slack’s status page, the company first posted information about the incident at 7:27 a.m. PT, saying it knew some users were having trouble using and loading Slack.

The event appears to be affecting connectivity, messaging, login, workflow, as well as applications, integrations, and APIs. In my own tests, I can’t load Slack on the browser, but both the desktop and mobile apps work fine. However, according to DownDetector, 60% of users reported issues with the app and only 17% of users on the site suggests that people’s experiences with power outages may be different.

The latest full update was released at 11:05 am PT: “We are still looking at the cause of the problem and are committed to reverting the functionality to the features of affected features such as workflows, sending messages, threading and API-related features. Users may also continue to have problems when trying to log in.”

PT was further updated at 11:35 a.m., saying: “No other news to share, but we are focused on getting things back to normal as soon as possible.”

The company has not released any details about what caused the power outage and points me to the status update page after a request for comment. “Our team has realized and is investigating the problem,” a company spokesperson said.
