The United States and Russia are expected to issue a joint statement on Tuesday morning Discussion in Saudi Arabia Sources familiar with the matter told CBS News that it aims to achieve a ceasefire agreement on the Black Sea.
The statement is scheduled to be released at 4 a.m. in Washington, D.C. and 11 a.m. in Moscow, two sources said.
Sources said that while details of the statement are unclear, the report shared by the US technical team in Riyadh with the Trump administration seemed optimistic.
Ukrainian officials have also been informed, a source said.
Russian negotiators told the National Trade Agency on Tuesday that Moscow will continue to negotiate “useful” with the Ukrainian conflict and try to involve the United Nations and other countries.
“We talked about everything, it was a heated conversation, not easy, but it was very useful for us and the Americans,” he added that during the 12-hour negotiations in the luxury hotel, “a lot of issues were discussed.”
Previous deals were established by the United Nations and Türkiye Russia withdrew in 2023allowing maritime transportation in the Black Sea, allowing both countries to export grains.
U.S. officials met with Russian officials including Michael Anton of the State Department and Andrew Peek of the White House National Security Council.

“Then we’ll talk about the line of control, which is the actual frontline, which goes into the verification mechanism, maintaining peace, freezing the details of the lines where they are. And then, of course, there’s a wider range of permanent peace.”
Although separate negotiations are underway between U.S. officials and Ukrainian and Russian officials, the two belligerent countries continue to attack each other.
