The Young and the Restless: From Victoria Caves to Keir
When Kyle decides he must go to Los Angeles to win Claire back, he runs to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) for information. At first, she refused, but then Claire’s mom finally relented and told Kyle where Claire lived so he could find her in Los Angeles.
To make matters worse, Kyle has now promised his son Harrison Locke (Redding Munsell) that he will bring Claire back to them. But I really doubt things will turn out the way Kyle says they will—or hope they will. I suspect everything will get worse once Claire closes the door on their future. This week, Kyle tells his parents, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), that he’s heading to Los Angeles.
The Young and the Restless: Jack and Diane’s prophetic warning to Claire and Holden
Although Harrison begged his father not to go—and then begged him to come along—in the end, the young boy relented when Kyle said he would let Claire come home to them. Kyle made a promise to his young son that he shouldn’t have made. That means if Kyle can’t change Claire’s mind, we’re going to see Harrison’s heart break. I think we all know how things are going to go.
Kyle’s stance is that he needs to bring Claire home and save her from playboy Holden Novak (Nathan Owens). But both Jack and Diane warn Kyle that Claire might be right where she wants to be, and she knows exactly who Holden is and what she’s up to. This reminds me of Jack and Diane trying to talk Kyle out of proposing to Claire, but Kyle didn’t listen.
Jack and Diane were right then, and they’re right again. Claire knew exactly what she was doing and who she was with. She is not Holden’s victim. In fact, Claire is excited to be in Los Angeles with Holden. She was flirtatious and seemed to like him as much as he liked her. The relationship between Claire and Holden will intensify this week.

Kyle came to California with a mission. He promised his son, Harrison, that he would bring Claire home and make things return to normal. But the outcome was beyond Kyle’s control. He made this promise to Harrison and he couldn’t keep it, which was kind of like a bad parent. The situation gave no indication that his plan would work.
Clare will likely be fuming and furious when he shows up in Los Angeles this week. Time and time again she told Kyle to give her space — to let her breathe and process. But last time he didn’t listen and instead proposed. It was then that Claire broke up with him. Now Kyle followed her out of state, repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
Young and the Restless: Kyle Won’t Back Down
Claire has already broken up with Kyle, so I guess she’s going to have to do it for good this time. Some things are irreversible—the kind of moments when Claire says, “Get rid of my phone number. Don’t ever talk to me again.”
I also bet Kyle is trying to manipulate Claire by mentioning Harrison’s name in hopes of exploiting her feelings for the boy. But I think Claire would say she would be happy to stay in Harrison’s life – but not Kyle’s – because he’s out of control. Once she tells Kyle to get out of LA and leave her alone, I doubt he’ll be completely devastated.
The Young and the Restless: Five ways Kyle Abbott lost control
Once Kyle returns to Genoa City and has to tell Jack, Diane, and Harrison that Claire rejected him once and for all, things may start to go downhill for him. What he might do next after realizing he’s pushed Claire away forever the young and the restless.
First, Kyle might start screwing up his job Jabot. He already has a track record of being lazy and making small mistakes that get worse over time. Diane mentioned that he missed a meeting and we may see more of this. Jack and Diane had already had to fire him once before when he repeatedly disrupted his mother’s behavior at work. They may have to show tough love again — and maybe even fire him a second time.
Secondly, we get to see Kyle drinking more. In fact, he has already started. Jack tells him to drink whiskey and perform in public with Audra Charles (Zureka Silver) at a jazz lounge. It’s bad – people stare, it’s a spectacle. That was a few weeks ago, and Jack had to pull him away to get him to sober up. Given the Abbott family’s history with drug addiction, this situation could escalate quickly.
Third, we might see Kyle crawling into bed with Audra. Both men are at their lowest, and although they despise each other, this animosity often turns into passion. If that happens, things could explode and be messy, especially if Audra ends up getting pregnant. This will send shockwaves through Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless: Kyle and Kane team up?
Fourth, Kyle may go off the rails and target Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He blames Victor and Audra for all of Claire’s problems. Don’t be surprised if Kyle teams up with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Kane Ashby (Billy Flynn) or even Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to take down Victor.
Even though Billy promises Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that he’s done with his revenge, he might be tempted to help Kyle hunt down “The Mustache.” Eventually, Kyle’s parenting might start to slip. Harrison will be devastated when Claire doesn’t return with his father. If the boy gets upset, Kyle may lash out—which could cost him dearly.
If he can’t solve the problem, Summer Newman (Alison Lanier) may swoop in and take Harrison to Italy. Alternatively, Jack and Diane might step in and keep their grandson around but ask Kyle to move out until he gets back to his normal self. We’ll see how it all plays out, but it looks like Claire will reject Kyle once and for all — and things will get wildly out of control from there.
