Three people died in eastern Ukraine after Russian shelling
At least three civilians were killed by Russian shelling in Pokrovsk, a front-line city in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, officials reported on Saturday.
Regional Governor Vadym Filashkin wrote in a telegram that another person was injured.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the shelling took place in the afternoon and attacked a residential area.
What weapon systems the city fired is still under investigation.
The Russian army is only a few kilometers away from Pokrovsk, occupying important transportation and logistics centers from the east, south and southwest.
For months, the city has been the focus of fierce fighting and has suffered extensive damage. Only a few thousand 60,000 former populations still exist.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky defended the military forces in the leading zone on Saturday.
