Tom Doak

Texas Hill Enterprise – On his days in remote eastern Texas earlier this summer, he couldn’t help but be excited about one of his latest projects, Tom Doak, and he couldn’t help but be excited about the landscape scattered in front of him.
“It’s different from any property I’ve worked on in the past decade,” Doak said.
That land is a former Texas hunting lease that will soon become a wild spring dune, Dream Golf at Dream Golf, the powerhouse developer behind Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley Resort.
The facility is scheduled to open eight holes in late fall this fall and throughout the entire hole in spring 2026, and will eventually live on 36 holes. A second layout by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw has been placed, with construction expected to begin later this year or the next year.
The site is about two and a half hours southeast of Dallas and will also be the 18th green residence of the Doak course. Private cabins and houses; brief lessons; and lush surrounding views.
General Manager Mike Abbott said: “It feels like Pinehurst, who previously held positions at Bluejack National outside Houston designed by Tiger Woods and formerly longtime PGA Tour website TPC-Las Colinas at TPC LAS COLINAS outside Dallas.
“With due respect, I don’t think Texas has a great golf resort [yet],” Abbott said. “I’ve been to most people. This will be really special. ”
Over the past four months, Dock agreed to go to the location in the past four months.
“The changes in the terrain and the transition really make me excited here,” Doak said. “I certainly got some Pinehurst, even Pine Valley, resonated.”
The construction of the Doak course will be a 72-shot one, extending to nearly 7,120 yards from the rear T-shirt, which is the development this year. The development of private housing, as well as resort accommodation and clubs, will begin next year.

Doak class starts with a soft Dogleg Par-4, near the top of what locals call Baldy Mountain. The valley below is clear with brushes and dry ditches, and spring seeps out of the ground, inspiring the course title.
11 bridges link properties together. Abbott said the course will only walk in a portion of this year (caddying is available) and allow riding the other half.
Dream Golf has had a great success, attracting golfers to remote destinations such as the Oregon coast (Bandon Dunes) and Wisconsin (Sand Valley). The Rodeo Dunes, a dream golf facility near Denver, will open later this year. East Texas’s Piney Woods regularly sits in the 90-100 degrees during the summer, following the same building – the pattern they will encounter.
The land of wild dunes was discovered by Dallas businessman Brett Messerall, who first contacted Doak. Messel later brought Dream Gold Tiveary and Bandon Dunes founder Mike Keizer and his son Michael to the organizational and financial support projects.
Doak has worked with Keisers on several projects at Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley, so from day one in Texas, there is a sense of familiarity and direction among designers and developers.
While there is no private property for sale in Bandon Dunes and there is little real estate in Sand Valley, wild dunes will collapse from the mold. Dream Golf is already selling “Founder” lots that will pair with the kind of top-notch shelf treats known to Discovery Land Properties.
“This service will be off the charts,” Abbott said.
Safe bet the whole place will be.
