Trump, 79, claims late-night host mocking him was ‘illegal’

President Donald Trump lashed out at another late-night TV host for failing to grovel at his feet for praise.

“NBC’s Seth Meyers may be the least gifted live ‘actor’ in the history of television,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday. “In fact, he’s probably the worst performer, live or otherwise.”

In his “Closer Look” segment on Thursday Late Night with Seth Meyers During the show, Meyers played a segment titled “Seth Translates Trump into English,” in which he repeated a speech Trump gave this week to the U.S. Navy stationed off the coast of Japan.

Meyers explained the president’s anger at Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer’s negative comments about his trip to East Asia, saying: “If anyone dares to say anything less than enthusiastic, Trump will lose his dignity.”

“Trump believes that if you say something bad about him, it’s treason,” Meyers added.

Trump nearly proved his point when he lashed out at Meyers, suggesting that being “anti-Trump” might actually be illegal.

“Why is NBC wasting time and money on someone like this??? No talent, no ratings, 100% anti-Trump, and probably illegal!!!”

This isn’t the first time the 51-year-old comedian has been attacked by the president. In January, Trump took another swipe at Meyers on late-night “Truth Society,” deriding him as “Big Mouth Meyers” and “just a fill-in for the scumbags at Comcast.”

In August, Trump re-elected Meyers, complaining on Truth Social that “there were rumors that Fake News NBC” had extended Meyers’ contract. (Meyers’ contract was extended in May 2024 through 2028). “He has no ratings, talent or intelligence and the personality of an insecure kid,” Trump continued, before vowing to find out why the network “extended this fool’s contract.”

Meyers said it was “kind of nice” to have the president’s attention after Trump attacked late-night hosts like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

In July, Trump’s late-night show celebrating its No. 1 ratings spot was canceled. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The announcement came quickly after the host described the legal settlement between Paramount and Trump as a “bribery.”

Trump also celebrated Kimmel’s suspension following comments about the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Jimmy Kimmel Live! After public outcry, ABC reinstated the show.

On Thursday’s show, Meyers discussed Trump’s rambling speech, in which he veered between the effects of water on magnets and his preference for steam-powered catapults.

“He kept talking, a truly unhinged lunatic,” Trump wrote of Meyers’ description of his speech.

Meyers has yet to respond to Trump’s attacks, but he did post the clip in question to social media after the president’s outburst.
