Trump’s tariffs are undermining Nintendo’s Switch 2 plan
Time is everything. Hours after I posted my Friday newsletter, the price of Nintendo’s new console was debated, and the company announced it would be at the cost of a series of new tariffs proposed by President Trump.
“Purchasing of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start on April 9, 2025 to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” Nintendo told Engadget. It added that the console is still scheduled to launch on June 5.
Last week, the Trump administration announced a series of new tariffs in a range of countries including Japan, Nintendo’s operating base), China and Vietnam. The last two countries where Nintendo manufactures most of its hardware will suffer import tariffs of 54% and 46%.
Nintendo said the Switch 2 was priced at $450 at the time of launch — and we have discussed enough rises — but there is no news yet on whether that price will be readjusted or whether the company will only distribute fewer consoles to the U.S.
This isn’t the only thing to reassess after the recent tariffs. Cargoes to the United States are being suspended. Vehicle imports face a 25% tariff, the company told AP, “As we develop medium- to long-term plans, some short-term actions were taken in April, including a cargo pause in April.”
The relatively small companies are figuring out the things too: well-known for their modular, repairable laptop lineup, announcing that it has also suspended sales of certain laptops in the United States.

We’ve been testing them and we’re very impressed. They are quiet, too. Continue reading our full judgment.

Brands still need websites in Amazon apps to work properly.
Amazon’s latest AI-driven features make you buy more called I buy for me, and companies can buy here for You are from another website. This feature is built into Amazon apps. When you search for items from a specific brand, you may see the results are marked as a store brand website, separate from your usual results. Amazon will use proxy AI, an AI that does not require human intervention, to purchase the item for you to provide your name, address and payment details for your checkout process. Amazon says at least at this experimental stage, it hasn’t cut it from these sales, but there must be something In Amazon.

It is obviously stronger than the land flavor.
In a study published in the Journal Iscienceresearchers from the United States and Denmark say they are able to perform a nice taste on the International Space Station – but the flavor and smell are different from similar flavors on Earth. The team suggested that the findings reflect a spatial terroir, playing terms related to grape grapes to describe unique location-specific flavor characteristics.
“There are some characteristics of the spatial environment in low-Earth orbit, especially microgravity and increased radiation, which may affect the growth and metabolism of microorganisms, which can affect how fermentation occurs,” said Joshua D. Evans, co-leader at Denmark Technical University in a press release.
