The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that two men were fatally shot dead in Cerritos Park early Sunday morning, and witnesses reported that the fire broke out.
Witnesses told the sheriff’s homicide investigators that at about 2:30 a.m., several cars were parked on the south side of the Ceritos Sports Complex and the skate park on Bloomfield Avenue.
Witnesses said that the gunshots were fired from twenty to 25 and the vehicle ran away.
When the sheriff’s deputies arrived at the park at about 2:40 a.m., witnesses told them that the two men were taken to the hospital. Investigators believe that the men died in the hospital and were driven by friends.
The release said why the vehicles were in the park and the motivation for the shooting was under investigation.
This 26-acre gymnasium includes six football/football fields, two baseball/softball fields and three softball fields, as well as a 10,000-square-foot skate park designed with the help of a committee including local youth.
