Russia uses air force bases to launch bomber attacks on Ukraine regularly.
Ukrainian armed forces said a recent attack on one of Russia’s major military air bases resulted in the explosion of 96 air force cruise missiles.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Thursday that the missile was destroyed due to the secondary explosion. It is not clear whether any planes hit.
Images of large quantities of flames and smoke became popular last week after the attack on the Russian-2 military air base in the Saratov region, with Russia launching TU-95 and TU-160 bomb attacks on Ukraine with Russia.
Ukraine said the missiles were intended for use in three upcoming operations.
It added that further strikes eliminated large fuel reserves for aircraft.
Business insiders cannot independently confirm the statement.
As of March 21, front and rear satellite images of Engels-2 showed large, black craters and damaged bunkers.

The strike was by far the largest in the region, Governor Roman Busargin said.
Although Russian authorities generally do not launch a strike, Basrkin said 54 Ukrainian drones were shot down during the attack.
The March 20 strike was about 450 miles from Ukrainian vacant land, part of Kiev’s campaign to relegate Russia’s military and energy infrastructure, which promoted war efforts.
This is the latest in a series of attacks targeting the base.
In January, Ukraine said it had carried out the “largest ever” attack on Russian military facilities and in the process crashed into the oil storage facility to refuel the Engels-2’s plane. That was the second attack on Engels in a week.
Recently, a possible drone attack burned the Kavkazskaya oil pump station in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, for a full week, disengaged it from operation for the foreseeable future.
Ukraine said a strike against Engels-2 accounted for a part of Russian firepower, but military analysts have long warned that Russia has few obstacles when it comes to being highly supported with missiles despite sanctions.
Analysis of the Russian cruise missile strike shows that since the end of 2022, Moscow has launched up to 223 missiles per month against Ukraine’s targets.
