Vimeo streaming enables creators to scroll their own Netflix
Vimeo is launching a new service that allows content creators to run their own subscription service without coding experience. Vimeo streaming eliminates the technical barriers to building monetized video services while avoiding chasing YouTube algorithms or the money you often make on Tiktok and Instagram.
The company said the product is ideal for media and entertainment creators, performing arts organizations, educators and e-learning companies, sports and event broadcasters and fitness studios. And, since Vimeo is less investing in individuals trying to build an audience from scratch, you need to contact the company’s sales team for pricing details.
The service provides tools and templates for a “professional” Netflix-style streaming experience without any coding tools and templates.” Creators can use custom brands, colors and logos to tailor the look and feel of Vimeo Streaming. The service offers white label web, mobile and TV apps for all major platforms, so you don’t have to convince your audience to download the Vimeo app. Creators can organize and classify videos, create playlists, include artworks and use custom layouts.
Monetization options include subscriptions (free trials and payment processing), on-demand videos, optional sponsored ads, and video bumpers, and audience loyalty allowances. It also supports live streaming (including concurrency, backup and 24/7 streaming), piracy protection and AI-driven subtitle translation in 36 languages.
CEO Philip Moyer told Hollywood Reporter. “We think creators should control their jobs and their salaries, so we are taking the technology that is usually only available on the largest platform and giving it to customers for a fraction of the cost.”
