Weinstein Accuser said he dragged, stripped and raped her after learning she met someone else in 2014
Jessica Mann, the last of three women who testified against Harvey Weinstein in the Manhattan retrial, made a sharp gesture to the candid film tycoon on Tuesday’s evacuation of the movie Mogul, accusing him of dragging, depriving, and raping her in the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The Associated Press announced that beautician and hairstylist Mann moved to Los Angeles to start her acting career in 2012, staring at Weinstein and then pointing into her eyes — and then him — and cried as she walked past the defense table Tuesday.
The exchange took place after Mann concluded and told the jury that Weinstein grabbed, dragged, undressed vigorously and raped her, informing him that she was dating someone else. She said, Weinstein shouting, “You owe me again!” as he forced her to oppose her repeated protests.
Weinstein shook his head and Mann told the jury through tears and breath. She did not answer reporters’ questions about gestures outside the court.
Weinstein’s attorney Arthur Aidala cited gestures and emotional expressions in subsequent criminal claims. This is one of many such requests that Justice Curtis Farber quickly denied.
Weinstein was accused of raping Mann on different occasions in 2013, although the 2014 encounter was not one of the alleged incidents. He also faces allegations of forcing two other women to have oral sex in a 2006 encounter.
“I can’t control what people do in court,” Farber said, adding that Weinstein himself responded to the jury’s testimony.
Defense attorneys have not yet cross-examined Mann, 39, about her complicated relationship with Weinstein, who said she started when she met at the party. She said she initially established a voluntary relationship with then-married Weinstein after initially putting pressure on her in New York.
Defense attorney Arthur Aidala said in her opening remarks that Mann’s relationship with Weinstein is mutually beneficial and she hopes she can quickly enter the acting career if she agrees with him.
Weinstein’s initial conviction in New York was abandoned by the Court of Appeal, which was found to be testimony of “previous bad conduct” in the 2020 trial. He was accused of raping Mann in New York and performed oral sex on two other women in 2006.
