What John Daly II did (or did) learn from his famous father

San Francisco – If you walk like John Daly and speak like John Daly, is it John Daly? not necessarily. Probably John Daly II.
The two-time major champion son is in San Francisco this week and has performed well in the U.S. Amateur Championship. After a stroke and entering the 64th round, the young Daly defeated his friend, Cooper Claycomb of Bowling Green, Kentucky, who ranked first in the opening match of the Olympic club on Wednesday. He did so, making up with a huge driving and dead-eyed posture, remembering his old man.
“I think I’m playing well,” Daly II said. “I made some good putts and kept it working.”
Like his father, Daly, 21, he played college golf in his hometown of the University of Arkansas. Like Elder Daly, he had a solid figure on his upper lip and a baby caterpillar grew on the upper lip.
But these people are not carbon copies of each other. Even if the apples don’t fall on the tree, it’s not difficult to separate the two. Daly II, for example, has a compact defender, not an ankle gripper, and when he digs a long ball, he says his grip and rip-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-it-
“I think that’s exactly what you’re going to do these days,” he said. “Everyone hit it.”
Other golf-related courses came directly from his father. Please accept tips on how to deal with stress. “Just have fun. If you just make yourself have fun, the nerves are gone.” Or remedies when something goes wrong with your debris. “Only hit a bunch of left hands.”
Of course, it’s good to be the son of a well-known travel professional, but there are also boring shortcomings. Daly II knew he couldn’t escape comparison. Ask him the same question repeatedly. When they reappeared on Wednesday, his answer had the ring he used to sound many times.
“He has two majors, I don’t,” he said. “I just want to be the best version of myself.”
This version has its own victory. One person competed in the 2021 PNC Challenge (well, yes, he paired with Daly Sr.). Another was a South amateur last month, which earned him a place at the Olympic Club this week.
If he can stay unbeaten late Sunday night (if you keep scoring at home), Daly II will be the biggest W of his young career.
But that wasn’t what he thought about on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m going to the locker room, maybe into the hot tub,” he said.
However, before that, he planned to call his father.
