Charlotte’s Elon U and Queens merge

Elon University and Queen Charlotte’s private institutions are about two hours apart, announced Tuesday that they plan to merge and will provide more details in the coming months.
Although Elon officials said in the university announcement, “The vision is clear: In Charlotte’s model of higher education, Elon officials said in the university announcement that while the “formal structure of the proposed merger is still needed,” Charlotte said, “The vision is clear: expand opportunities, enhance opportunities, prepare for the future workforce, and provide honors for Stores solidied neciedecies at both institutions. ”
The language in the announcement shows that Elon will absorb Queens as part of the merger.
“At the end of the merger, it is expected that by the summer of 2026, Elon will work with existing and traditional leaders to carry out the Queen,” Elon officials wrote in a press release.
Elon is the largest of the two institutions and seems to be financially more stable.
According to the public data set, Elon recruited more than 7,230 students last fall. The number of heads in Queens is 1,599 students last fall. Public financial records show Elon’s donations are worth more than $361 million, while Queens’ nearly $162 million has been underdeficit in recent years.
Queens also dropped the enrollment target of about 100 students last year, which would be attributed to the flaws in the new free application for federal student aid.
Officials are expected to complete the merger next summer, which will require regulatory approval.
