Nintendo has introduced in detail The highly anticipated switch 2 Wednesday. On the plus side, many of the accessories from the original Nintendo Switch will work with the Switch 2, but some important accessories won’t.
Controller

Joy-Con
Switch 2 will come with its own set Updated Joy-Conbut you can still use the original one. They won’t physically connect to Switch 2, as the new Joy-Con is larger and magnetically fixed, but you can pair the original Joy-Cons wirelessly. This way, you can still play with family and friends without having to buy other products.
Professional controller
Nintendo’s excellent professional controller also upgrades the Switch 2, but like Joy-Cons, the original Pro Controller works with the Switch 2. It will be paired wirelessly with the console and can be charged via the Switch 2 Dock’s USB cable. New professionals will have some nice upgrades like expanded buttons and triggers, gamecube-style ergonomic and programmable paddlebacks, but will also cost $80, so if you don’t need an upgrade, you don’t have to be sure.
Other Nintendo controllers
Nintendo also clarified that all wireless versions of NES, SNES, N64 and SEGA Genesis Controller will work wirelessly with the Switch 2. However, it also states that not every game is compatible, but we don’t know which games these games will be. Assume that all games that support these controllers (also Switch 2 compatible) may be safe, but we will update this feature once we learn more.
Third-party controller
At present, this is the biggest question mark. We cannot confirm any situation from Nintendo or other controller manufacturers if a third-party controller will be used with the Switch 2. think Since the original professional controller will work with Switch 2, at least an officially licensed third-party controller will work, but as of release time, we have not confirmed support for third-party controllers on Switch 2. One of the vendors I spoke to confirmed that it is currently related to Nintendo with compatibility, but cannot share any details.
microSD card
One of the largest (and most popular) upgrades to Switch 2 is an 8-fold increase in internal storage. 32GB to 256GB. This means that microSD is no longer an instant must-have accessory. This is also good, as not every microSD card used with the original switch works with the Switch 2.
Nintendo specifies that only microSD Express cards can be used with Switch 2. You can still view screenshots and videos from non-expression MicroSD cards, but you won’t be able to save or load games or save data to them. You can tell if your microSD card is Express, as it prints out some EX on it.
Bluetooth headphones
The original Nintendo Switch is notoriously without Bluetooth, so you have to plug in your headset or buy an adapter. Nintendo corrected this with an updated switch version and retained the functionality of the Switch 2. This means that all the Bluetooth headphones you like should work properly in the new Switch 2.

The Switch 2 Dock is also undergoing a major upgrade. Its rounded corners are larger and now supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, a welcome upgrade for modern gaming consoles. That being said, for families with multiple switch consoles and TVs, you may not want to buy an additional switch 2 dock for use around the house.
However, Nintendo confirmed that the original switch dock is incompatible with Switch 2, which also means that the original switch is likely not working in Switch 2 dock.
Third-party docks
Nintendo is not a few docks where all first-generation switches work properly, so there is no reason to expect them to be incompatible with the Switch 2, as long as they provide enough power. But again, we have no confirmation, so we cannot be sure.
Chargers, cables and adapters
charger
As we all know, the first generation switches are associated with non-Nintendo Chargers, especially when docking, and it seems that the Switch 2 may continue this trend. Switch 2 has different power inputs from the original switch, so the original switch charger does not work properly using the Switch 2’s TV mode. You can still charge switch 2 with it by plugging it in and that’s it.
We also know nothing about the Switch 2’s third-party chargers. There are several that work well in the original switch, but we don’t know the power appeal of the Switch 2 yet, so we can’t determine which chargers will work. Hopefully we’ll find it closer to booting, but for the moment, the only charger we know about using the Switch 2 is the included one.
cable
Switch 2 is likely to support HDMI 2.1, which means that the HDMI cable that comes with the original switch is not working properly. However, Nintendo, like most other accessories, confirmed a lot, but did not provide specific information on whether a third-party HDMI cable would work. We have to wait to find out. Switch 2 will have an HDMI cable, so at least.
adapter
Nintendo has confirmed that the only adapter to use with the Switch 2 is the GameCube Controller Adapter. This allows you to connect a wired GameCube controller to the switch dock, which Nintendo says can be used in TV mode when connected to the Switch 2 Dock. We currently know nothing about any other adapter.
Nintendo does provide us with a lot of information about the Switch 2, including the price, most critical upgrades and release dates, but as you can see, we still don’t know a lot. As we learn more, we will continue to update this list and other coverage of the Nintendo Switch 2.
