Elementary school music teachers are usually the unsung heroes of their school. They engage students of all ages, teach real music skills, and somehow hold concerts after the concert. It’s a huge job and it requires the right tools to do it well.
When we hear Music K-8This is a magazine designed to make life easier for music teachers and we want to know more. So we turned to Wisconsin music educator Katherine Myszewski, who teaches basic music, directs student work and runs a private studio. Katherine is already familiar with the magazine and shares why Music K-8 It is a useful, time-saving resource for music teachers everywhere.
Which grade did you use Music K-8 What age do you think these songs are the best?
I think the magazine is perfect for kindergarten to grade 8 students. There are some songs that are easy for kindergarten and first grade, but I will use most of them in second to eighth grade students – students who are already able to read.
How do you use magazines in your classroom at the moment and how do you use it in the future?
I have used this product to select music for concerts. One thing I like is that I can have students sing or playing songs in unison, play them on the recorder, and play them with other instruments. I like that every question has songs of all levels, so I can use them for different grade levels.
How do your students respond to songs and resources in the magazine?
Students love the various songs offered in this magazine. They like being able to connect learning to the course during other courses and/or seasons or holidays. They also love being able to sing with fun accompanimental tracks!
What do you think it is Music K-8 Stand out of other music resources or magazines?
The accessibility of teachers makes the magazine stand out. It is so easy to use, providing resources to help teachers teach these songs without being prepared. I like to use magazines as a resource. It’s great and easy to access. I will continue to use it and highly recommend it to all music educators.
How easy it is Music K-8 Used in your class, what makes it user-friendly to teachers?
The magazine is very easy to use. It prepares all the prepared materials; I just need to copy them and add PowerPoint and recordings to my computer. This is the easiest way to access all the tools I need to teach songs. I highly recommend this magazine to all music teachers, but this is especially easier for new teachers to teach in their first year!
What is your favorite thing Music K-8 Why?
My favorite features are access to the material: score, lyrics paper, PowerPoint presentations and accompaniment tracks. I also like the various topics covered by all the questions. I was able to connect songs to what students learn in class, and the course connections made students more attractive.
How can magazines help you save time or simplify lesson planning and teaching?
because Music K-8I don’t have to prepare lyric paper or lyrics PowerPoint slides, nor do I have to practice accompaniment on the piano, because there are prophetic recordings. Also, if I want to add a recorder or other instrument to the song, I don’t have to create musical symbols for these specific songs, because Music K-8 Provide these. This resource is a great time saving.
Why do you think such resources are important to music educators?
This resource is perfect for a one-stop shop for all the materials needed for music educators to successfully teach songs. When teaching multiple grades, it is often difficult to prepare all the materials required for each level, and Music K-8 Make all preparations easier! I plan to use this magazine to pick songs for performances and concerts. These works performed well, students liked them, and the songs fitted with various themes of the concert (winter, spring, holidays, etc.).
What do you think Music K-8 Help students develop a deeper appreciation of music?
Students will be able to work with music to learn about a variety of cultures, holidays, seasons, emotions and other course topics Music K-8. The magazine helps students learn that music is truly connected to every part of our lives. The music selected in each issue in the magazine is fun and appealing, so students will love to learn every song.
