Tsinghua (Reuters) – China will work with all parties in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to take the regional security forum to the next level, Chinese President Xi Jinping Jiping said on Monday.
The West China Cooperation Organization sets a model for a new type of international relations, Xi Jinping said in his opening speech that he addressed more than 20 world leaders at a two-day summit held in Tianjin in northern China, adding that the forum explicitly opposes external intervention.
Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Indian President Narendra Modi and other leaders from Central, Middle East, South and Southeast Asia participated in the opening ceremony of a major show of global southern solidarity.
Xi Jinping talked about constructive participation in international affairs, opposing hegemony and power politics, and promoted multilateralism in his speech.
In recent years, the security-focused group has expanded from a group consisting of six Eurasian countries to 10 permanent members and 16 dialogue and observer countries.
