Château de Chambord | Encountering mysterious places under Ma

The castle approaching the chambord is like walking into a dream. Its dramatic outline (marked by over 400 rooms and whimsical turrets) makes it one of Europe’s most impressive Renaissance castles. Originally by King Francis I in the early 16th century as a Hunting Lodge (Because why not hunt in style?) Chambord exudes reputation and ambition.

There are rumors that, besides Leonardo da Vinci bringing his genius to the castle’s design, especially in the central double helix staircase, which allows two people to rise or fall at the same time without crossing the path. It is outstanding, as dramatic as the French court itself.

Despite its grandeur, Chambord is not a full-time royal residence. It is used more as a place for display and luxurious but short-lived accommodation. Nevertheless, its grandeur still leaves a lasting legacy.

Chambord’s Secret Character in World War II

Chambord is not only a symbol of wealth. This is also the hidden hero of World War II. Art curators ran to protect priceless treasures as the threat of Nazi invasion enveloped Europe. The most iconic masterpiece of the Louvre – Mona Lisa-Creekly moved to Chambord for storage. With its secluded location and sponge-like rooms, the castle has become a temporary safe for French cultural gemstones.

For a brief period in history, Leonardo’s mysterious lady smiled and looked at the chambord from the powerful stone wall.

Château de Chenonceau | Women’s Castle

Now, if Chambord is a symbol of Royal Flair, Chanonceau Chanonceau is the epitome of romance and grace. Built on the Seer River, the castle seems to float on the water and shines under the stone arches. It’s not only picturesque, but also powerful. Chenonceau is often referred to as the “Lady’s Castle” and is formed, expanded and dominated by a series of influential women.

It began with King Henry II’s beloved mistress Diane de Poitiers, who added elegant style to the arched bridges and the prosperous gardens. But when Henry died, his wife, the mighty Catherine de Medici, took back the castle and turned it into a great palace residence. She added an impressive gallery that spans the entire river, making Chenonceau a stunning vision we see today.

Catherine’s Pharmacist: Beauty, Strength and Potion

Catherine de Medici is not just a queen, she is a woman of science, smell and some witchcraft. Catherine was deeply fascinated by the healing and mysterious properties of herbs, and had her own pharmacist inside Chenonceau. Here she blends perfume, tin agents made, and dabs into what we call the original health exercise.

Today, visitors can still explore this fragrant little corner of the castle and imagine Catherine herself concocting her herbal remedies and secret elixirs.

Even though the pharmacist is a real gem, I can’t help but be attracted by a quiet, dark room on the third floor of the castle. It has some haunting beauty – the view, the atmosphere…feels like home.
