Zelensky recommends 30-day cessation of civilian targets

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed suspending drone, cruise missile and rocket attacks for at least 30 days.

This would be Russia’s compromise after refusing to agree to the general, a longer ceasefire.

When the Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin will end on Sunday, Zelensky called for a 30-day ceasefire.

It requires any strikes on civilian infrastructure using long-range drones and missiles to stop for at least 30 days and potentially extend it.

“If Russia does not agree with such steps, it will prove that it intends to continue doing things that destroy human life and prolong the war,” Zelensky said of the armistice proposal.

While he once again lamented the illegal acts of Putin himself to halt hostilities in the 30-hour order on Saturday, he made it clear that there were limited opportunities for a ceasefire.

But he noted, “There is no air strike alarm today.” He concluded: “So this is the ceasefire format that has been achieved and is easiest to expand.”

In the war that has been going on for more than three years, Ukraine first complained that Russia has had heavy air strikes almost every day, causing huge damage to energy facilities and civilian infrastructure. During this process, civilians are repeatedly killed or injured.

Although Russia insists that this is just an attack on military targets, images show evidence of a blow to residential buildings and other civilian targets almost every day.
