Zelensky says ongoing battles in the Kursk border area
Despite the Russian military’s claims, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that his troops are still fighting in the Kursk region.

On Saturday, the Russian military claimed that the Kursk region had been “completely liberated.” It said Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that all Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region were defeated and only a single Ukrainian soldier was still “trying to hide.”
On Sunday afternoon, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to his generals on the phone to congratulate them on their successful liberation of the Kursk region.
“Putin congratulated them on their victory and thanked them for their heroic work,” Interfax News Agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
It is not currently possible to provide an accurate, independent overview of the situation in the region.
In early August last year, Ukrainian armed forces unexpectedly crossed the border into Russian territory near Kursk and initially acquired 1,300 square kilometers of Russian territory before being pushed back. Kiev’s goal was to force Moscow to re-election and put pressure on the front lines in eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian General Staff also rejected Russia’s claim on Saturday that it had used Kursk as a “propaganda move.” The Ukrainian General Staff said that the battle continued not only in certain areas of the Kursk region, but also in the neighboring Bergorod region.
Death, injured in the attack Donetsk
At least three people were killed in a Russian gliding bomb attack in the small town of Kostyantynivka, a small town in eastern Ukraine, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office on Sunday.
The prosecutor’s office in the Donetsk region said in a telegram that four other residents were injured when two bombs hit private property.
It said a married couple, aged 47 and 48, and a 78-year-old pensioner were killed. The four injured were between 67 and 83 years old.
Photos accompanying the post by authorities show extensive damage to the building and a burning car.

Russia controls much of the Donetsk region in the eastern Ukraine, one of four regions in Ukraine, which it annexed during the war initiated by Moscow in 2022.
The Kremlin is trying to overwhelm Donetsk, which borders Russia.
People killed in Ukraine Dnipropetrovsk In Russian drone barrage
Authorities reported earlier Sunday that a man was killed and a 14-year-old girl was injured in a Russian drone attack that stayed overnight.
Dnipropetrovsk Region Military Governor Serhiy Lyssak wrote on Telegram that two residential buildings were damaged in the attack.
He said other towns in the area also caused losses, with 13 drones shot down.
A 35-year-old woman was injured when she crashed into a three-story residential building in the southern part of Odessa, the prosecutor’s office said.
It releases a photo showing serious damage caused by debris dropped by direct hit or dropping the drone.
Ukrainian air defense recorded 149 Russian drone attacks at night. It is reported that 57 projectiles were shot down and 67 were lost.
Ukraine has been defending the Russian invasion for more than four years.
