The billionaire oligarch complains very publicly about Reddit in the middle of the controversy, but we now understand that Musk is not only complaining about X. Tesla CEO also privately put pressure on Reddit’s CEO to put pressure on Reddit’s CEO to make him apparently silence critics of the Trump regime, according to a new report from Verge.
According to Verge, which involved “people familiar with the matter”, Musk is exchanging text messages with Reddit CEO Steve Huffman for 72 hours. On the surface, the secondary was denied for a violent threat to entities currently being demolished. News of Doge’s theft of sensitive personal information has sparked strong protests from R/WhitePeopleoftwitter, some of which include violent language. But the entire sub-Redit is forbidden rather than regulated.
The exact word of the exchange between Musk and Hoffmann has not been revealed, but the Verge Report reported that the host from several sub-Redit learned about the exchange between the two and called Musk a “giant baby.” Musk has a long history of forbidding links to domains he doesn’t like, but when he finishes it with him, he’s really fit.
“I have no problem deleting the content of the rules (and taking their respective administrator actions on the above accounts), but I find it a bit problematic to have him being able to exert influence on public and private institutions,” wrote a Reddit host in a discussion about the communication between Musk and Hoffman.
X did not answer the question of sending an email Thursday, but a Reddit spokesperson issued a general statement on responding to “policy violations” without directly addressing the main question of whether Musk and Huffman were communicating at the time.
“We will take any reports that violate Reddit policy seriously, whether directly or through other public or private means,” the statement said. “We will evaluate the content reported to us and act in the event of a violation.”
The Reddit community participating in the X-link ban includes a wide variety of non-political sublists, including everything from R/NFL to R/Nintendo. Subreddit R/The military host briefly explained the reason for the link ban with “the fuck guy.” The kind of reaction you expect when someone seems to pay tribute to the Nazis. Instead of immediately denying that he paid tribute to the Nazis at the event for President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, Musk chose to double the jokes about the Nazis.
“Don’t say Hess to the Nazi accusations! Some people will turn everything out!” Musk wrote on January 23: “Stop the enemy! His pronoun is him/himmler! Bet you did the Nazi Nazi.”
According to the New York Times, a Tesla employee who complained about the joke was fired. Musk explicitly denied that he was paying tribute to the Nazis shortly after being interviewed by right-wing conspiracy theorist Joe Rogan. But most people seem to have learned what Musk was doing at the time. Even the literal Nazis on X celebrated Musk’s tribute, with the weeks after Musk’s gestures replicating Musk’s tributes.
Michigan pastor Calvin Robinson paid tribute to a “Birth” event about a week later, actor Eduardoverástegui paid tribute to CPAC, while distant podcaster and former adviser to former Trump President Steve Bannon paid tribute to CPAC in the CPAC. Elon Musk has a huge swing in the United States, not only the richest man in the world, but also as an oligarch, he was given the freedom to shape the federal government he liked.
